Self-Portrait
by Wally Cruz

Oil on canvas; 18 x 24 in.

This painting represents the things I value most. Books for reading/literature. The blank pages indicate my uncertainty of my future at that time. The empty pen jar represents the extreme writer’s block I couldn’t shake. The “smooshed” heart symbolizes the state of my personal life at the time.

WALLY CRUZ is an English major at Rutgers–Camden. She is a lover of the written word who is very passionte about literature in all its forms. She is a true believer of the old adage, “The more you read, the more you learn.”
