As it Runs
by Crystal Barkley

As it runs

Forward it heads

Back is what it leaves

Away

It tries to get

Behind follows it

Harder

It tries to escape

A gap it tries to create

A chase

Is what is found

As it gets tracked down

It realizes

What is mislead

Behind is what leads ahead
